About this Unit

Minerals and in particular strategic minerals are critical for modern life, while the planets and other nearby celestial bodies, present future opportunity for humanity. This unit will focus on distribution of the minerals that sustain modern life and the geophysical methods used to delineate them. Students will explore petrophysical properties of rocks along with case studies focused on the geophysical strategies used for finding copper, gold, nickel, potash, Lithium, Iron Ore and many other deposits types from around the world. They will learn how to display and analyse multiple geophysical data sets over major deposits around the Australia.
