About this Unit

This unit examines how geophysical methods help resolve global food, environmental and water supply challenges. Digital versions of complex groundwater and environmental systems are needed to understand/ balance current and future needs. Effects of lakes, rivers, the seawater interface, groundwater flow and hydrodynamics in large basins wioll be examined. Attention will be paid to define seawater interface, environmental applications, methods used in aquifer replenishment, building basin scale groundwater models, methods for geological sequestration of CO2, characterization for mine tailings and soil classification for agriculture/engineering.
