About this Unit

Industrial applications of Geophysical methods span the search and development of energy sources, exploration for strategic minerals, delineation of groundwater resources, and subsurface characterization for environmental and engineering projects. Pure research in geophysics helps use to image and understanding the deep interior structure of our earth and our nearest celestial neighbours. This unit systematically provides the foundational understanding of all core methods used in geophysics including seismic, gravity, magnetics, electromagnetics and radiometric. Students will work through practical application of each of the methods in a range of settings.
