About this Unit

Due to an ever-increasing advances in digital technology, there is now a greater ability to manipulate and extract information from signals digitally. This unit aims to introduce students to some of the concepts and techniques of digital signal processing and their applications. These include Discrete-time signal and system theory; Sampling; Design of Finite Impulse Response (FIR) and Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) digital filters; Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Additionally, students will be introduced to discrete-time random signals and to Spectrum estimation and analysis.
