About this Unit

This unit enables students to engage in the design process as undertaken in the field of Engineering. Through practical projects, students will produce innovative and appropriate design solutions documented through their design portfolio, research reports and presentations. Design prototyping and testing are to be done through physical and/or digital fabrication and simulated and/or real environments depending upon the projects. Students will reflect on their own cultural values and world views, and the implications for culturally safe engineering professional practice. This unit requires students to create design solutions that engage with a place-specific landscape or site. Opportunities for cultural and interdisciplinary engagement will be encouraged. Work Integrated Learning is incorporated through the design of projects (such as the projects’ challenges, sites, stakeholders etc.).
