About this Unit

This unit introduces electrical drive technology, covering the motor types, power electronic converters, sensors and controllers. Drives based on DC motors, induction motors, synchronous motors, and switched reluctance motors are discussed in detail. It explores their operation under both steady-state and transient conditions. The control of the drives in the four-quadrant torque-speed plane to deliver various performances such as regenerative braking and closed-loop speed control are discussed.
