About this Unit

This unit will equip students with the clinical skills and knowledge required to manage critically unstable patients which can be applied in clinical practice. The unit focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, planning, management and evaluation of care for individuals with specialised health needs. The content focuses on recognising and responding to deteriorating adult and paediatric patients within simulation-based training through advanced assessment and care of people in cardiac and respiratory crisis. Students will apply critical thinking, clinical reasoning and therapeutic communication in meeting nursing competency standards within selected clinical environments. This unit includes Clinical Placement hours.
