About this Unit

Artificial and Machine Intelligence will cover fundamental concepts in Artificial Intelligence with an emphasis on search and machine learning techniques. The students are first introduced to uniformed search techniques which underpin all search problems. In the second part of the unit, the students will cover conceptual and rule-based learning. Particular emphasis will be put on learning techniques that produce decision support systems that can allow a non-expert understanding of the categorisation and induction process. Advanced multiple expert learning techniques are covered in the last part of the unit. Boosting and bagging techniques are evaluated in the context of real problems such as medical diagnosis.
