About this Unit

This unit develops students' communicative competence in the Chinese language over a wide range of real-life situations. The four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing will be integrated in collaborative learning activities. The emphasis is on language register and language variations when expressing different opinions and dealing with more complex social situations. The cultural significance of language usage will be examined, together with systematic discussion of appropriate manners and social etiquette to enable effective communication with Chinese speakers.
