About this Unit

This unit examines energy governance internationally, comparatively (other countries and Australian jurisdictions) and in Western Australia. It outlines the institutions and organisations which are responsible for energy governance at different jurisdictional levels and considers theories applicable to energy governance, notably how to balance the energy trilemma (energy security, energy equity and environmental sustainability). Specific topics covered include energy constitutionalism, climate change governance, the energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables, and the interaction between Indigenous rights and energy development.
