About this Unit

This unit introduces students to some of the critical concepts in law relating to communications by businesses and individuals to customers, stakeholders, and the wider community. Students will explore marketing and product communications with respect to misleading and deceptive conduct and false representations and will gain awareness of the importance of this area of law with respect to marketing and public relations activities such as advertising and promotions, media releases, and sponsorships. Students will also gain knowledge in areas of law such as copyright, privacy, and confidential information, that are important in conducting tasks such as product development and communicating with employees and clients. The unit also provides students with an overview of the torts of defamation and negligence.
