About this Unit

In this unit, students will use the command line to undertake the analysis of sequence data and then derive biological inference and interpretation from those data, using diverse programs and scripting. Topics include sequence quality control, mapping, variant calling, differential expression and visualisation; as applied to the whole genome, the epigenome and the transcriptome. The rapid and large-scale acquisition of data renders bioinformatics an essential skill for modern Biologists.
