About this Unit

With the increasing human population and worldwide depletion of wild fish stocks, the demand for a continual supply of seafood will only put more pressure on aquaculture. Sustainable Aquaculture will introduce students to the interactions between sustainability issues that can contribute to the global food security through sustainable development of aquaculture. Global sustainability challenges and opportunities at each stage of the process will be addressed through topics and activities on farming practices, diversification in system design, recirculating aquaculture systems, live feed production technology, international trade and value addition through quality improvement of aquatic products.
